Muir Woods is Twelve miles north of San Francisco. Came here in May to see where the movie “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” took place. And ofcourse to experience the serenity of the beautiful Redwoods. Got here before noon and finding parking was a bit difficult but got lucky to find one. Will go early next time hehe.
As I enter this beautiful park, I stand in awe of its beauty, the trees are older and taller than you can possibly imagine. Love the crispness and freshness of the air. Walked full length which includes six miles of paved asphalted trails through thousands of old growth coast redwoods but I mainly stayed on the main trail, which is an easy walk.
These massive trunks of a 700-year-old giant trees are just simply amusing.
Federally protected as a National Monument since 1908, this primeval forest is both refuge and laboratory, revealing our relationship with the living landscape[nps.gov]
The place induces a powerful sense of connection and humility. These tall living things shelters communities of Birds and insects. Take time to read some informations to learn about the park, and always observe the signs.
If in anyday I will need a joy- inducing rambles, I will find myself here in this tranquil woodland of Marin County.
